On the articles for new faculty, an article I wrote with a few friends
might help. "Designing You Community-Based Learning Project: Five Questions
to Ask about Your Pedagogical and Participatory Goals." Teaching Sociology.
Volume 30. 2002.

We don't address the pros and cons of doing a community based learning or
service learning project but we walk through the steps to think about in
designing one. This is based on a service learning project we did in an
undergraduate sociology course.
