The University of Southern Mississippi’s Office of Community Service-Learning (OCSL) located in the Division of Student Affairs is looking for a dedicated service-learning professional to develop, manage, and provide leadership for the Volunteer Clearinghouse as well as coordinate the daily operations of the Office of Community Service-Learning. Responsibilities with the Clearinghouse include working with faculty, students, and community partners. The Coordinator will serve as the resource person for student-run service programs through OCSL, including V.I.S.I.O.N student service organization.

 

A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. The individual must be familiar with community service and service-learning, able to perform multiple tasks with minimum supervision, able to work in team and individual settings, capable of initiating and completing tasks, and committed to working with diverse populations. Grant-writing skills and experience preferred. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

 

The University of Southern Mississippi is a comprehensive public institution with an enrollment of approximately 14, 500. It is the second largest institution of higher learning in Mississippi, offering 93 degree programs for undergraduates, 62 master’s degree programs, and 26 doctoral degree programs. Hattiesburg (population 65,000) is considered the educational and medical hub of South Mississippi, offering the multicultural influences of traditional Southern hospitality and famous New Orleans Creole cuisine as well as the recreational opportunities and atmosphere of the beautiful Gulf Coast-all within driving distance. Hattiesburg is located 90 miles south of Jackson, 75 miles north of the Gulf Coast and 105 miles north of New Orleans.
