political service
21 January 2002 22:11 UTC
Greetings all,
I am in the process of creating and writing a curriculum for use in a
non-profit setting with college students wherein they participate in
service-learning as an adjunct to a political fellowship program. I am
attempting to connect the service to a problem/solution theme; namely that
they would discuss both political and service solutions to community
problems. I would like to use readings and reflections to aid in these
connections, so i need some literature to share with the fellows. If anyone
has any ideas about political connections of service-learning that would be
appropriate for undergrads and graduate students alike, I would appreciate
it! I am especially looking for articles and books about reflection as a
tool to facilitate this.
Similarly, if anyone has created or been involved in a program that connects
service to politics in a concrete manner, i would love to hear about it.
Additionally, if any of you know young people ages 18-24 who would like to
be involved in a political internship/seminar/service-learning summer
fellowship program, direct them to our website: www.unitedleaders.org
thanks in advance for the suggestions!
