Administrator Training

The following is the schedule and agenda to date for the Administrators
Pre-Conference at the upcoming COOL Conference. Administrators and State
Campus Compact Directors have been working hard on the content so this
should prove to be a great training. If you have specific questions please
email me directly at  director@cool2serve.org. For info on the conference

>8:00 am - 9:00 am:     Program Display/ Exposition
>                       Space and time for networking,  sharing program
>materials, best
>                       practices, etc.  Morning snacks available.

>9:00am - 10:15 am:     Common Threads:  Building Campus and Community 
>Support,
>                       and Developing Student Leadership
>
>                       An activities based workshop where emerging
>programs and   experienced
>                       administrators share ideas and enthusiasm while
>exploring:
>                               1.  The role of service on campus and in
>community
>                               2.  How to stimulate service involvement
>                               3.  Engaging students in volunteer 
>leadership
>                               4.  Important ways colleges/universities
>support one another

>10:15 - 10:30          Break

>10:30 - 11:30          Concurrent Workshops

>                       We have space for 4-5 workshops,  athat will focus

>                       aspcets of administration work with student leaders.
                        Workshops scheduled to date:
                        *Models for creating volunteer leadership roles
(for students)
                        * Student leadership via Alternative Breaks
                        (other topics to be determined/finalized)

>11:30 - 1:00           Networking/ Student Recognition Activity & Lunch

>                       This will be a combined lunch and administrative
>team activity in which we
>                       produce an artistic creation to express our thanks
>to the Student Leaders at COOL.  Acknowledgement is a central feature
>                       of administration, and it should be good team fun
>too!

>1:00 pm - 2:50pm               Concurrent Facilitated Discussions
>
>                       Break into groups to discuss topics of concern,
>share ideas,plan
>                       ahead, etc.  The groups could be divided by
>experience/activity level,
>                       or mixed.  Each group would have an experienced
>facilitator.  Discussion
>                       topics could be somewhat predetermined or totally
>open ended. (Admins will be seperated into three groups-- self
>                                                 selected-- based upon
>beginning, intermediate and advanced programs.)

Note* During the last twenty minutes we will have a short discussion on
what topics we would like to delve into further and assign rooms and times
for further exploration during the conference. Specific workshops,
facilitated discussions and focus groups will be held during the conference
that are focused exclusively on administrative challenges and program
development. Facilitated discussions will be based upon the interest and
specific needs of those attending the pre-conference and thus allow for an
opportuntiy to bring your questions to the table, rather than all workshops
being pre-determined and running the chance they are not as relevant to
your specific needs.
