ASSISTANT RESIDENCE DIRECTOR
GRADUATE POSITION
Housing Services - Residence Life
The division of Housing Services anticipates openings for the position of
ASSISTANT RESIDENCE DIRECTOR for fall 1997.
ASSISTANT RESIDENCE DIRECTORS are entry level graduate students (30 hours
per week) in the Department of Housing Services; Residence Life. ASSISTANT
RESIDENCE DIRECTORS (ARDS) are live-in staff members working in an
administrative, student development and programming capacity. A Residence
Director serves as the direct supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: Enrolled as a full-time graduate student in a degree-granting
program at UMass/Amherst. Strong interpersonal communication skills and the
ability to interact with a diverse population. Demonstrated experience and
skills related to program development, student development and working with
groups. Familiarity with residence hall systems and/or other education
administration or management experience.
PREFERRED: One or two years experience living in a residence hall system.
One year experience as a Resident Assistant, student organization leader,
and/or directly related work experience.
REMUNERATION: The graduate stipend for the contract period is $9287.20 for
a 30-hour work week (38-week academic year contract). A furnished apartment
and tuition waiver are also included.
CONTRACT DATES: 8/10/97 TO 12/20/97 AND 1/15/98 TO 6/1/98 (subject to
changes in academic calendar)
