In December I requested information from the lshe and s-l listservs
about those institutions that coordinate the college work study in
service settings through their service-learning office. I received
about 30 responses and most were helpful. I have compiled the
information into a 3 page table. Unfortunately the document is a MS
Word table that does not translate well to email. I will be glad to
fax, attach to an email, or snail-mail this document to anyone that
requests it.

The list was somewhat helpful in our presentation to our financial aid
office recently. We were able to show that there are other
institutions that are coordinating the cws service placements out of
the service-learning office and not the financial aid office. All of
the schools have excellent relationships with financial aid, but the
placement function is implemented by the s-l office. The programmatic
elements of these institutions will also be helpful when we design our
program this summer. We (The Center for Civic Education and Service
at Florida State University) are working on an agreement with our
financial aid office to coordinate placement. We anticipate placing
up to 100 students this fall with the increase in work study dollars.
