the education awards only program is an excellent way to provide some
support to student volunteers. But the type of support is quite different
from wages or work study students are often engaged in to pay their way
through school since the rate of earning for education awards is about
$2.65/hr. While it's an excellent way to offset a portion of loans, we
try to make clear to students that it will not substitute for their need
to work.
