One of the courses taught at our Career Development Center
focuses on careers in health care (including various specialties for
physicians, as well as nursing, optometry, allied health professions,
etc.) Historically the students have been required to complete a
specified number of hours shadowing a professional in their field of
interest. I have advocated for students to be encouraged to complete
related community service as an alternative to the shadowing
requirement. We would also like to train two student assistants (who
took the class previously) to design and facilitate reflection sessions.
I'm interested in hearing any feedback you may have, especially ideas for
unique service sites and reflection topics.
Thank you.
