Ciy Year is a full time, ten month youth service program for young adults
aged 17-23. City Year provides critically needed community services while
promoting the personal development of young people from diverse
backgrounds. Teams of 13 corps members perform a broad range of services
such as tutoring and teaching children, building housing for homeless
persons, beautifying public spaces, assisting the elderly, renovating
playgrounds, providing recreational activities for the disabled, starting
and running after-school programs and school vacation camps, and more. By
providing high quality service in areas of critical need, City Year corps
members grow as individuals and as contributing members of our society.
RESPOSIBILITIES--
* Manage 13 corps members in a year in a year of high quality service and
leadership development.
* Develop and expand partnerships with community organizations, governement
agencies, businesses, and community residents as they relate to the
specific area of expertise
* Engage and involve community residents and resources in the activities of
the team
* Manage their team around all organizational objectives including events,
fundraising, and recruitment
* Develop young people into leaders through the course of their City Year
* Ensure completion of appropriate documentation
QUALIFICATIONS--
* Commitment to community service and the development of leadership
potential of young people
* Excellent leadership and management skills
* At least 2 years work experience with 17-23 year olds preferred
* Experience working with people of diverse backgrounds
* Bachelor's degree preferred
* Creative, flexible, and energetic
* Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong organizational
skills
* Computer literacy or willingness to learn computer skills
* Ability to effectively delegate responsibility
* Bilingual skills a plus
* Knowledge of existing local community agencies, programs, and potiential
service partners
* Valid driver's license required
SALARY--Commensurate with experience: $20,000-$25,000
