Honors programs with Service Learning

Hi - I am a Massachusetts Campus Compact AmeriCorps*VISTA at Cape Cod
Community College. When considering sustainability issues, the
administration would like to learn more about Service Learning in an Honors
program, i.e. Honors students would be required to fulfill an SL
requirement. Are there any such programs out there? I know UMass Amherst has
one, anyone else?

I apologize for not getting this information out sooner.  Here is the 
summary of what people emailed me regarding graduate schools that have 
community service based scholarships and fellowships.  Thanks to all who 
replied to my posting.


On a side note, there is also a scholarship book called Making a Difference 
Scholarships for High School Students through Graduate School.  It is 
published by Sageworks Press.

If anyone knows of general scholarships similar to Target, Walmart, 
JCPenney, etc.. that focus on community service but, can be used for any 
graduate school please post them to the listserve.

the School for International Training in Brattleboro, Vermont offers 
financial assistance for community service.  They (with some other schools 
right behind them) have also just launched a Master's Program in "Fighting 
Poverty" linked with Americorps VISTA.


There is a Peace Corps Masters program that is partnered with MANY schools 
across the country in several different disciplines.  Even if your not 
interested in entering the Peace Corps,it will give you a list of colleges 
and universities that are "service-oriented" and so they might be a good 
place to start looking for other scholarships,
grants, etc.

The Americorps Alumni website lists schools that provide credit for graduate

school for people who served in Americorps. http://www.americorpsalums.org

There is a service-learning graduate assistantship that carries a stipend 
and tuition remission at University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
