Dear SL colleagues,

Cooperative Grants Program Accepting Applications for
        Muslim Intercultural Exchange Grant Competition

The Cooperative Grants Program administered by NAFSA:
Association of International Educators provides seed funds
as well as programming and grant writing resources for
projects that creatively involve post-secondary interna-
tional and U.S.-based study-abroad students in the life of
 U.S. campuses and communities.

COOP, which is funded by the U.S. Department of State, is
currently accepting proposals from U.S.-based institutions
of higher education and nonprofit organizations for the
Muslim Intercultural Exchange Grant competition. Grants of
$2,001 to $10,000 will be awarded to selected projects that
meet all regular COOP eligibility criteria and accomplish
one or more of the following objectives: create opportuni-
ties for students from predominantly Muslim countries to
engage in substantive exchange with their U.S. peers and
host communities; increase resources and understanding on
U.S. campuses about the Muslim world; and/or address issues
related to women in Muslim cultures. (Deadline: March 8, 2002)

The Cooperative Grants Program is also accepting applica-
 tions for the following programs:

Incentive Grants: awards in the range of $2,001 to $10,000.
 (Deadline: March 1, 2002)

Mini-Grants: awards of up to $2,000. Proposals are
considered quarterly, with an eight-week review period.
