SEEKING A PROJECT DIRECTOR

CHP International, Inc. is seeking a qualified Project Director to appear
on
a grant proposal to obtain a Cooperative Agreement from the Corporation for
National and Community Service (CNS). The Cooperative Agreement is to
provide
training and technical assistance (TTA) in National Service Program
Management. The TTA is for staff of community service programs across the
country which receive funds from the CNS These programs include
AmeriCorps,
National Senior Service Corps and Learn and Serve America.
PROJECT CONTENT AREAS
The training and technical assistance will cover the following content
areas:
* recruitment, training and development, management, and retention of
staff,
volunteers and members.
* program design, implementation and management.
* measuring program impact and outcomes.
* creating networks for peer support, cross-stream collaboration, and
community partnerships.
* grant and subgrant management.
* youth and volunteer leadership
* risk management
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project Director will be responsible for recruiting and managing the
occasional trainers and experts (among consultants and Corporation for
National Service program staff) necessary to conduct the following work:
Training:
1. Conduct a needs assessment which identifies participants' skill levels,
training delivery preferences, and program stream needs and assets.
2. Design, promote and deliver one workshop in each of CNS' five clusters
(regions) on program management and supervisory skills for 75 - 100
participants. (Annually)
3. Conduct a minimum of 50 state-based training sessions.(Annually)
Technical Assistance:
1. Provide, arrange for or connect a minimum of 450 programs to
information,
training, and technical assistance in program management and organizational
development.
2. Provide a minimum of 75 on-site visits (annually)
3. Design and implement a delivery system which primarily utilizes peer
assistance.
4. Create and support a minimum of one affinity groups in each of CNS's
five
clusters
5. Create and oversee the management of a national database of local
content
area experts and peer resources, and a referral system.
6. Create and oversee the management of a web-site with content areas
associated with program management and supervisory skill, and with links to
other National, regional, and local resources.
7. Provide on-line assistance through participation in listservs.
8. Provide technical assistance by telephone.
ADMINISTRATIVE
1. Supervise an administrative assistant.
2. Oversee a database for tracking project activities
3. Prepare and submit periodic reports.
4. Manage the budget and all matters related to performance and compliance.
5. Maintain frequent communication with the Corporation for National
Service
project supervisor.
6. Create and maintain systems for contracting, overseeing and paying
consultants.
7. Assure that all training and technical assistance activities have
adequate
logistical support.
8. Research, identify and disseminate effective practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Minimum five years experience managing service programs associated with
the Corporation for National and Community Service.
2. Minimum three years managing training programs for staff or others.
3. Minimum five years experience with at least 75% of the content areas
listed above in "PROJECT CONTENT AREAS"
4. Personal history of community involvement and community service.
JOB LOCATION: Oak Park, IL
SALARY: Negotiable
PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: The cooperative agreement will be funded annually,
with a maximum initial life of three years. Work is anticipated to begin
in
February, 2000.
