5 Americorps*VISTA Positions Available NOW in Sunny Florida!
The Florida Alliance for Student Service (FASS), based at Florida State
University, is recruiting motivated, service-oriented, hard-working college
graduates to serve as AmeriCorps*VISTAs in the Florida Keys, Tampa, St.
Petersburg, and Tallahassee.  VISTAs will design, facilitate, and oversee a
wide range of activities to engage K-12 and college students in service
learning to address needs related to poverty.

VISTAs will help teachers and students prepare for, establish, conduct,
expand, and institutionalize service learning (literacy, prevention,
environmental, historical, intergenerational, etc.) in their communities;
facilitate student and teacher meetings and conferences; and administer
youth service-learning mini-grants.  This is a GREAT opportunity to gain a
broad range of professional experience, work with students and educators,
and get things done.

FASS VISTAs will be placed in schools, school districts, and at Florida
State University.  They will also evaluate program efforts and help
identify/garner resources to ensure activities will continue.  A VISTA
Leader is sought to help oversee the statewide effort.  VISTAs will receive
training at the federal, state, and local levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree - Strong oral and written communication skills -
Organized - Committed to helping others - Service and volunteer experience
- Self-motivated - Hard-working - Positive attitude - Ability to work
independently and as part of a team - Ability to use word processing 
systems.

FASS VISTA IS HIRING NOW.  VISTAs receive a monthly stipend ($697-$768
depending on location), a post-service education award for past or future
student loans or debt ($4,725), health insurance, personal and sick leave,
federal holidays off, student loan deferment, and a relocation allowance.
A one-year commitment is required.
