Dear Colleagues,

Periodically, the Institute for Community Leadership posts internship announcements seeking conduits for our internship program.  Below is a recent announcement.  If you or others you know might serve in this capacity we would be honored to hear from you.  The Institute for Community Leadership strives for a world where individuals see their interconnection to others as an impetus for sustained social action.  Needless to say, most of us are inactive not because we lack the information to know what problems need fixing.  Rather, we are inactive because we lack the courage, training, discipline and practice needed to act.  Action is active and our society thrives on sedentary living. To sustain action we must provide opportunities that transform the self and the social environment in which the self lives and works.  Our focus is on the heart and soul of getting engaged.  Our program, working in schools, communities, tribal nations, universities and elsewhere engages people in the transformation of their own self and does so through participation in community, school, national or global transformation.

Our program has school year based internships as well as summer internships.  Please forward this message to others.

All the best,

Sasha Rabkin

Stand up for justice!!  Work against the disparities in public education!!!  Inspire young people!!!  Transform yourself!!!  Organize Voter Education!

The Institute for Community Leadership (ICL) recruits individuals committed to personal and social change.  ICL invites individuals and to become interns and institutions to nominate potential interns.  Interns must be willing to transform themselves, get out of their comfort zone and organize others.

Education transmits cultural, political, economic and social values.  Education and information without the guiding principles of love and justice, as Dr. King warns, leads to the development of “guided missiles and misguided men (and women)”.  Our nation’s schools and all citizens must orient themselves to this grave dilemma and challenge students, teachers, administrators, parents and community members to carry the mantle of social justice and social uplift.  Be a compass for justice today!!!

ICL, utilizing poetry, creativity, nonviolence and community advocacy, builds the capacity of youth to advocate for social justice and work for personal change.

The arousal, education and organization of individuals for sustained social action requires dedicated warriors.
