VISTA OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH CHILDREN AND COMPUTERS IN MISSOURI!

Want to "bridge the digital divide" for youth and families living in poverty?
Looking for a unique job or internship opportunity that lasts one year and is
rich in experience? If so, then consider serving as an AmeriCorps*VISTA member
with Missouri 4-H!

The 4-H/Community Youth Development VISTA Program is now recruiting members to
serve as After School Computer Lab Site Coordinators, beginning Nov. 6, 2003.

VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is among the AmeriCorps national
service family of programs providing people of all ages with opportunities to
live and serve in communities for a year while earning money for college. Like
a domestic version of the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps*VISTA may be the second
"toughest job you'll ever love."

As a 4-H/Community Youth Development VISTA member, you are based in an urban or
rural setting of your choice, and work in conjunction with a University
Outreach and Extension faculty member. You assist communities in providing
safe environments and adult supervision for upper elementary and middle school
students after school. You develop after school computer lab programs,
offering students who do not have access to computers or software opportunities
to build skills to succeed in school, work, and life!

Strong candidates will have at least two years of college education and a
background in K-12 education, youth development, volunteerism, computer
technology, and partnership building. They will also have excellent
communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Benefits include a
$9,146-$9,496 living allowance, health insurance, life insurance, child care,
$550 relocation allowance, training, and $1,200 cash stipend.

VISTA members must have a driver's license and access to a vehicle for
project-related travel. VISTA members must be available to attend a
pre-service orientation Nov. 2-5, 2003, and to begin service on Nov. 6, 2003.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 20, 2003, so don't delay!!
