On Friday, October 19th, 2001, PAUL ROGAT LOEB
will provide the keynote address for the SCALE conference and will
also lead a workshop during the afternoon sessions. Paul, an associated
scholar at Seattle's Center for Ethical Leadership, is an author and
speaker nationally respected for his views on social involvement and his
passion for social change.

His most recent book, Soul of a Citizen, examines how ordinary
individuals become extraordinary agents for change. He tells the stories
of people who have become actively involved in community issues, writes
about what it takes to maintain commitment, and uncovers how civic
involvement can be personally rewarding.

In his workshops and public talks, Paul helps audiences see how the
powerlessness and cynicism of our times can be overcome, and how they
can move from passivity to meaningful participation. As a speaker, he is
the kind of thoughtful passionate leader that helps others feel the
sense of connection needed to sustain our work for social change.
