VISTA Opportunity in Reading, PA

Albright College is currently recruiting to fill an AmeriCorps*VISTA
position.  The position is a one year commitment from August 30, 2004 to
August 29, 2005.  The VISTA at Albright College will be serving as the
Director of Community Tutoring Programs.  S/he will establish and maintain
ongoing reading and math tutoring programs for local youth organizations and
schools, recruit and train college volunteers, and work with faculty in the
creation and implementation of service-learning projects.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintain Ongoing Reading Tutoring Program
* Establish New Reading and Math Tutoring Programs
* Develop and Revise Program Infrastructure, such as recruitment material,
training guides, attendance records, etc.
* Recruit College Volunteers
* Train and Supervise Volunteers
* Create an Awareness of Service-Learning Opportunities Among Faculty

Skills and Experience Necessary:
* Bachelors degree
* History of volunteerism
* Experience or involvement in tutoring or teaching
* Excellent organizational skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Self-motivated

Benefits Provided:
* Monthly living allowance of $792
* Post-service education award of $4,725 or a $1,200 cash stipend upon
completion of full year of service
* Health insurance

* Childcare, if eligible
