Service-Learning Awards/Certificates

Hello!  Portland Community College's Service-Learning Program is trying to develop a service-learning award and/or certificate that students can earn if they do a certain number of service-learning courses with a minimum set of hours of service.  We have not decided if we are going to create a formal certificate that leads to specific job skills, as indicated by state guidelines, but we do want to recognize students for their service-learning efforts.

I have done some preliminary searches of the national service-learning websites and have not found much information yet on such programs at other colleges.  Do any of you have similar models that you could share with us?

Thank you,
Kim Smith
