Summary:        Professional staff position will promote student involvement
in curricular and co-curricular community service by working directly with
students and student organizations, faculty and staff, and community
agencies in program development and implementation.  This shared position
requires effective collaboration and communication skills, experience in
program development and management, and a demonstrated commitment to the
value of community service in higher education.
Masters degree required (e.g., Higher Ed, Non-profit Management, Social Work
or other related field) and 1-2 years related experience.  Salary low to mid

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate the development of new and ongoing programs that promote student
understanding and involvement in service learning, voluntary community
service, civic involvement and other related initiatives.

Assist with the development and implementation of the service scholarship
programs, including the application review process and selection, volunteer
placements, and organization and facilitation of leadership seminars for
service scholars.

Create effective modes of communication regarding student community service
through the development of newsletters, correspondence and utilization of
web pages and list serves.

Assist with student recruitment and recognition for participation in new and
ongoing community service programs and initiatives.

Promote community service and civic responsibility by assisting students and
student organizations in planning, developing, and implementing community
service activities and programs.

Act as a liaison and provide support for Learning Communities faculty
engaged in service learning (e.g., middle school visits, pen pal projects).

Collaborate with departments, campus units, regional and state organization
to improve and develop programs that involve college students in community
service.
