article on service-learning (Jrnl of Research In Science Teaching)
16 April 2000 20:42 UTC
Here is an interesting article for you science teachers out there:
Gallagher, J.J. & Hogan, K. (2000) Intergenerational, Community Based
Learning and Science Education. Journal of Research In Science Teaching
37(2) 107-108.
This brief article talks about how adults tend to work toward more
long-term environmental goals when they are working with youth, rather than
short-term solutions. Intergenerational service-learning projects provide
such as opportunity for adults to work with youth.
Unfortunately, I have not been able to find this article online, nor can I
find a web site for the journal. You will probably need to work with your
local librarian to get this full article. I can tell you that it is
published ten times per year by John Wiley & Sons for the National
Association for Research in Science Teaching.
Have a good week! Ann
