*COME TO MIAMI!*  EIGHT EXCITING VISTA POSITIONS AVAILABLE WITH AMERICA 
READS PROGRAM IN BEAUTIFUL MIAMI, FLORIDA

Eight challenging and rewarding Americorps*VISTA positions are available in 
sunny Miami, Florida starting this summer.  VISTAs will have the 
opportunity 
to play a leadership role with one of the nation's most comprehensive and 
effective America Reads programs.  Work entails helping to coordinate a 
program that employs 200+ Federal Work Study America Reads tutors from 
local 
universities and colleges in 43 elementary schools and community sites.  
Miami's America Reads program reaches approximately 2,500 children weekly.

Additional responsibilities include the following:
--Implementing a parental involvement component
--Developing a plan to involve high school students and community 
volunteers 
as reading tutors
--Helping implement a county-wide Buddy Reading training program
--Organizing pre-service and in-service training for all stakeholders
--Providing on-going support and guidance to tutors

Eligible candidates must be self-starters who want to play a leadership 
role 
and who are able to work independently. A college degree is preferred (2 or 
4 year), and reliable transportation is required.  Benefits include a $791 
monthly stipend, insurance benefits, reimbursement for travel, and a $4,725 
educational award after the completion of a year of service.
