Antioch College Director Bonner Scholars Program
Antioch College has a Director of the Bonner Scholars Program position

TITLE: Director of the Bonner Scholars Program
SUPERVISOR: Director of Cooperative Education
DEPARTMENT: Cooperative Education
AVAILABLE: A one year renewable position to start July 1, 1996
SALARY: $20,000-24,000 annual range.
Carries the full normal package of health,
retirement and other benefits.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of the Bonner Scholars Program provides
overall leadership, energy, and inspiration for the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Recruitment and selection. Cooperate with the Admissions Office
and Financial Aid Office on recruitment and selection of Antioch Bonner
Scholars.
2. Service placements during study quarters. Work with organizations
and agencies in the Yellow Springs area to set up and monitor service
placements for Bonner Scholars during their study quarters.
3. Service placements during co-op quarters. Cooperate with co-op
advisors in setting up service placements for Bonner Scholars during their
co-op quarters.
4. Student orientation and learning activities. Provide overall
leadership and facilitation for orientation of Bonner Scholars to the
program, for weekly meetings of Bonner scholars, and for students'
integration of their service experiences. Oversee students' journal
writing and other learning into their broader education activities.
5. Allocation of Bonner community funds. Provide leadership for the
deliberations by which the Bonner Scholars group allocates the funds ($100
per scholar per year) which the Bonner Foundation provides for community
activities.
6. Monitoring standards. Administer the code of standards for Antioch
Bonner Scholars.
7. Communication with the Bonner Foundation. Provide the key link in
communicating with the Foundation about the progress of the program and new
program opportunities; work with the offices of the Registrar and the Dean
of Administration and Finance in generating in a timely way reports which
the Foundation requires.
8. Coordination with the Dean of Students Office and Community
Government. Coordinate activities of the Bonner Scholars with other
related activities led by the Dean of Students Office and Community
Government.
9. Advisory committee. May establish, serve on and provide staff
support for the College's Bonner Scholars Advisory committee.
10. Participation in national and regional community service
activities. Provide an Antioch presence, for the Director and for
students, in national and regional community service activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A bachelors degree is a required qualification for this position.
2. Experience of work and leadership in service, social justice, or
peace organizations and a strong background of participation in and
leadership of student service, student government, or cooperative education
activities.
3. Must have demonstrated experience and ability to:
* Gain cooperation of and work with a variety of
resources,
groups and individuals.
* Communicate effectively with students, administrators,
faculty, parents, and employees.
* Solve problems effectively.
* Effectively administer documentation required for
grants,
including financial and other record keeping.
