A while ago I announced a National Issues Convention for Young Adults to be
held by our new Organization, FIRST (The Foundation for Individual
Responsibilty and Social Trust), on this mail list. A number of you
responding requesting more information. I would not like to update the list
members, announce an internship, and request additional assistance. Please

WE THE FUTURE - a national issues convention for young adults.
Our initial event is scheduled for September 19th - 22nd in historic
Philadelphia and will involved moderated deliberation about 9 long-term
national areas of discussion. We are looking for applicants to the event,
peer moderators, and people to sponsor delegates. Please post this
information elsewhere and contact me for further details. The convention
will afford the opportunity for this generation of young adults to develop a
voice in our national debate and to take responsibility for shaping the
nation's future.
RESEARCH INTERNSHIP - 20-30 positions will be available for an 8 week
internship in June and July here in Philadelphia. Interns will work together
in a "summer camp" environment to develop background materials on each of the
issues for each of the delegates. Applications are being placed on our web
page for downloading. Please distribute to students.
OUTREACH - You probably know of many organizations from all sides of the
political and economic spectrum who would want to participate in this event.
Please let them know about us and provide information. We are planning a
national announcement around the first week of April. I am also looking for
newsletters and magazines to publicize this event.
