I was asked to announce the following information to the list for those in CA
who might be interested in attending this conference:
The UCLA Community Service Commission will host the second annual "STUDENT
POWER IN COMMUNITY SERVICE" conference on their campus. This year they are
cosponsoring the conference with CA Campus Compact.
Topics of the conference will include traditional community service concerns
such as recruitment and fun-draising, new trends in community service, as wll
as community service issues unique to California such as diverstiy and
immigrant issues.
There will also be several "Think Tanks" to help participants strengthen
existing community service efforts.
If I may editorialize a little--the conference is open to EVERYone, not just
students. This is sort of the CA Mini-COOL conference with lots of student
participation. I went last year and really enjoyed it.
For more information on the conference, call Cathy at 310.825.2333 or email
her at usacsc@asucla.ucla.edu. You can call Celia at CA Campus Compact, for
scholarships for registration and travel 310.794.8638.
ALSO, I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHO ELSE FROM CALIFORNIA IS GOING TO THE COOL
CONFERENCE IN D.C. MAYBE WE COULD MEET UP AT THE CONFERENCE.
Peace,
