I appreciated Tom's comments about the attatchment to the ivory tower.
However, the great thing about S-L is that it has the potential to bring
a strong academic componant to service, that is why it is not just simply
volunteering. Tom has probably made this point to his colleagues, I
just thought I would reiterate it.

Thanks Tom for the reference to the Lempert Book I am planning to get it
as soon as possible. By-the-way Some of Neil Postman's work might also
be useful in this discussion. Technopoly: the Surrender of Culture to
Technology, and Amusing Ourselves to Death.

One final thought. A Cool Chapter is starting at West Wash University.
I am wondering how other S-L Centers work with COOL chapters. If anyone
has ideas about this I would love to hear them.
