KES2008: 12th International Conference on Knowledge-Based

Intelligent Information & Engineering Systems
September 3, 4, 5, 2008, Zagreb, Croatia

Call for Papers: Invited Session

"Contributions of Intelligent Decision Technologies"

Topics

Intelligent decision technologies (IDTs) combine artificial intelligence, decision making support, and systems development.  This session focuses on the contribution of IDTs to improving decision making.  Papers are encouraged that explore original applications of IDTs or advances in methods such as intelligent agents used to support decision making.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Decision support for real-time and stressful decision problems
  • Agents used to reduce information overload, enable up-to-date information, and provide a dynamic response
  • Techniques for incorporating artificial intelligence in decision making support systems
  • Psychological processes underlying real-time and stressful decision-making and support
  • Agent communication required for decision support
  • Methods of dealing with uncertainty in decision problems such as fuzzy logic
  • User trust of intelligent decision support systems
  • Use of agents to communicate with the user during decision support
  • Applications in information retrieval for decision support
  • Artificial intelligence used in military applications of decision support
  • Human computer interaction aided by intelligent decision support systems

Both theoretical papers and papers describing practical experiences will be welcome.

Instructions for Authors

Please note that the required paper length is eight pages in Springer format. Papers longer than this will be subject to a penalty charge. Papers very much longer or shorter than the required length may be rejected. To ensure high quality, all papers will be thoroughly reviewed by the KES2007 Programme Committee. All papers for KES2007 must be submitted in electronic form using the software review system on the KES site at http://kes2007.kesinternational.org/proselogin.php

All oral and poster papers must be presented by one of the authors who must register for the conference and pay the fee. Authors are not encouraged to submit multiple papers, and authors will be restricted to one paper per registration.

Publication

The Conference Proceedings will be published and distributed by a major publisher, Springer-Verlag. Extended versions of selected papers will be considered for publication in the International Journal of Knowledge-Based Intelligent Engineering Systems, www.bton.ac.uk/kes/journal/

Important Dates
Submission of papers: 15 March 2008
Notification of acceptance: 1 April 2008
