Decision support technologies are increasingly being used in real-time and uncertain decision problems. Intelligent agents have enabled up-to-date information, dynamic response and conflict resolution in applications ranging from traffic flow to medical emergencies to military robotics. Harassed decision makers in these and other fields often ignore crucial information, use inefficient strategies, and generate fewer alternatives. Despite significant research on decision making support, researchers are limited by a narrow understanding of the most effectual methods to support decision-making in real-time and stressful situations. Intelligent agents offer one approach to operationalizing a decision making support system in these circumstances.
This novel book gives the reader the recent advances in theory and implementations of intelligent agents to support decision making. It brings together for the first time the successful applications of intelligent paradigms such as:

intention of this book is to provide a concise introduction to the particular
topic from the vantage point of a newcomer. As such, each chapter must be
complete within itself. Naturally, reference to additional or more advanced
material is expected to be given in the reference section.

Proposals on all relevant topics are invited.
Co-authored chapters are welcome.

1 April 2004: Authors are invited to submit summary (one page) of their
proposed chapters.
10 April
2004: Acceptance decision.
1 June 2004: Draft chapter due
15 June 2004: Feedback to the authors
15 July 2004: Camera ready chapter due
